  1. I love how on your homepage, the first thing you say is that you will experience history. Many students believe social studies and history are "boring" subjects because it's in the past, but I think it can be fascinating, especially when experienced, as you have put it.

A recommendation, I would make sure to proofread everything before publishing. Since it will be open to parents and students alike, you will want to make sure everything is well written with proper grammar and punctuation. Surprisingly this can be a point of judgement from parents and students on our competencies as a teacher.

  2. Joseph, I am really impressed with the appearance and layout of this webpage. Oftentimes, teacher webpages are so boring or "teacher-y". Your page has some great images and a modern feel. Well done.

I also agree with Lexi, a class webpage needs to be impeccably written. If a parent perceives a typo the wrong way, it could affect their judgement of you as a competent educator.

  3. Joe, I really enjoyed your class website!! Last semester I read the book "Sahara Special" by Esme Raji Codell for my EDU 216 class. Your classroom website reminded me of the teacher in this book! It essentially tells the story of a girl who was moved out of the special education class and but is required to repeat the 5th grade. She has a teacher who is really remarkable and presents the subjects in a way that makes students want to learn- and one of those ways was calling history "time travel." It is very creative and immediately makes the subject more exciting. I also liked how you called the discussion area "debates." Students should be confident in their ideas and able to defend them in front of their peers. Lastly, I think you did a great job making the site really visually appealing with all the pictures and making it look so modern. Great job!
